Costas Maranas, of the Department of Chemical Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University, paid Tulane's Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering a visit Friday. Prof. Maranas, who holds the Donald B. Broughton Professorship, lectured the faculty and graduate students in the department on his work designing metabolic models to describe biological systems. His work is highly interactive with many synthetic biologists and genome engineers collaborating with him around the world.
During his visit, Prof. Maranas met with Nancy, Carla, and Prof. Sandoval to discuss bacterial metabolism research.
